Linda Gross will teach how to make woven paper hearts. These paper hearts are traditionally filled with candy and nuts and hung on Christmas trees. Click here for a list of the supplies you will need and the patterns we will use.

The culture sessions provide an opportunity to delve deeper into the Woodlands and the cultural context of the dance and music presented at camp.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday during Scandia Camp 2021 we have scheduled an hour just before the evening dance in which we will have chat rooms available if you want to meet up with other participants, old or new friends, for a chance to socialize. Imagine that you are in Pinsker Grove (in the Woodlands), a gathering area just outside the dining hall, that is surrounded by redwood trees, has a portable fire pit and picnic tables. At lunch or dinner, you might sit down with others to share a meal or conversation. You might have made arrangements to meet with friends that you haven’t seen since last year’s camp and want to catch up. Or you see someone new and want to get to know them. The equivalent at Scandia Camp 2021 is to meet in one of a number of Breakout Rooms, called Tables, during the hour before the evening dance. One Breakout Room (The Woodlands Cinema) will be set up to show Scandinavian Music videos – in case you just want to sit back and relax listening to music played by various of our Scandinavian staff musicians.

There will be both midday and evening dance parties. Check the schedule below for the times and durations.

At Scandia Camp, after the evening dance party, musicians typically gather either in the Dance Hall or the Lounge to continue playing music. A few dancers usually linger for more dancing. At our virtual Scandia Camp, we will continue this tradition by having a one-hour music jam following the evening dance.
