Welcome to Scandia Camp Mendocino
Our 2024 camp in the Woodlands was great fun.
Thank you to those of you who were able to join us.
Recordings from 2024 will hopefully be available in late August to those who signed up for them.
We hope your summers are full of fun adventures and Nordic dance and music.
We will let you know if/when we find a new site.
Camp includes the following classes and more:
Dance:
- Dance classes with our Scandinavian guest teachers
- Dances often found at Scandinavian dance events and parties
- Social, changing partners dances
- Classes in Scandinavian Dance Fundamentals focusing on Hambo, waltzing, and your requests
Music:
- Regular fiddle focusing on the music from Scandinavia
- Regular fiddle for newer Scandinavian musicians
- Hardanger fiddle, the Norwegian fiddle with under-strings
- Nyckelharpa, a keyed-fiddle with sympathetic strings, is the national instrument of Sweden
- Group playing: Allspel in Swedish and Samspel in Norwegian, focusing on dance music. All instruments are welcome.
