Vegar Vårdal

Vegar Vårdal is a musician, dancer and composer with more than 20 years of experience performing, as well as teaching. Vegar resides in Vågå in Gudbrandsdal, Norway, but teaches throughout Norway as well as internationally. He is a very dynamic and engaging dance teacher, who is well liked by his students. His teaching skills are enriched by his musical background.

He plays both regular fiddle and Hardanger Fiddle, and received his music education from the Norwegian Academy of Music. Vegar is an energetic, playful and versatile musician who plays a wide range of genres. In 2020 he was honored with the title, “Norwegian Folk Musician of the Year." Vegar also received the "Hilmarpris" for his work.

Vegar will teach a selection of Norwegian gammeldans, which became popular in the late 19th century and are still danced socially today. This genre includes the waltz, mazurka, reinlender, polka and hoppvals.
