Synnøve’s childhood was strongly affected by growing up in a folk music family. She has worked most with the folk music traditions from Folldal, Østerdalen and Trøndelag. Her repertoire ranges from children's songs and psalms to ballads and instrumental music performed vocally. In recent years she has studied folk singing with many teachers including Unni Løvlid, Ståle Ytterli, Øyonn Groven Myhren, Jarnfrid Kjøk, Eli Storbekken and Gro Kjelleberg Solli.
In 2021 she released her debut-album with slåttetralling (solo singing of traditional dance music) from Folldal. This album has been nominated for the Norwegian grammys.
In the past, Synnøve has received numerous talent-scholarships. In 2019 she was chosen as the Hilmar-talent, which is a national talent award for folk music and folk dance. She also has received talent-scholarships from Sparebank1, Folldal municipality and Terje Vasskogs memorial fund. During the last several years she placed high during competitions in Norwegian folk music and also has been named the best dance musician of the year.
