Johan Lång comes from Uppsala, Sweden, and was introduced to the living tradition of Upplandic folk music and way of playing when growing up. He has a bachelor’s degree of music in Swedish folk music from The Royal College of Music in Stockholm and an education in instrumental teaching from the University College of Music Education in Stockholm. He's been teaching nyckelharpa regularly since 2016, including in “School of Arts” (“Kulturskola” in Swedish), weekly courses in Stockholm and shorter intensive courses both in Sweden and abroad, including Spain and England.  His main interests are playing techniques, both traditional and more modern, and how to explain and teach something so profoundly tactile as playing the nyckelharpa where words alone seldom are sufficient.
